Helping first generation college bound Latina women achieve their goals

Karla was born in Jalisco, Mexico. She spent the first 7 years of her life living with her grandparents in Ocotlan as her mother came to the United States and worked to make a life for them. Karla grew up in her beloved San Diego in Point Loma. She graduated from Point Loma High School.

She put herself through Cal State Fresno by working as a waitress and with financial aide, and student loans.

Karla began working as a bilingual school counselor at Pacheco Elementary in 2007. She worked at Pacheco and later, CL Smith, Hawthorne, and Los Ranchos elementary schools. She Served the families of those school communities with passion and a commitment to help students achieve.

As a first generation immigrant, she knew the challenges that those students faced, especially the girls. While she worked to support all students, she had an affinity to encourage Latina girls to be successful, set high goals, and follow their dreams. She helped many students along their path. To continue this important work, we are establishing the Karla Robles Latina Legacy Fund. The fund will focus on helping first generation college bound young Latina women to achieve their goals and go off to college.

Thank you for helping us continue Karla’s impact and legacy of uplifting the next generation.
